I researched and gathered supplies and tools for this project for two weeks. I even spoke with the developer via email and phone in preparation with a few questions I had.I was installing it for my mom (75) in her new apartment. I went over there with my tool bag and a box of tools and supplies, and after having watched the video several times I felt pretty prepared. I do minor handyman jobs around my house. But when I say this thing kicked my butt...I emailed the developer after drilling the first pilot hole because I could tell the distance between the stud and the fiberglass was big. He called me and walked me through the troubleshooting, telling me the exact lag bolts and washers I needed to go buy. And when i messaged him that HD didn't have the ones he told me to get, he actually pulled up the website for the store I was at and told me where to find them! Problem was when I got back to do the next step, somehow I used the wrong drill bit & the hole for the lag bolt was way too big. He walked me through how to place a new hole in the stud so I could salvage this project. Guess what? When screwing in the lag bolt (not the one provided with the kit, but the longer one I had to buy), IT BROKE OFF IN THE HOLE! So he walked me through drilling a 3rd hole and gave me tips on how to prevent that from happening again. Mind you, I'm still on the first flange installation. So I finally get that one done & move to the left/bottom side. Thankfully, he had the experience & foresight to have me buy a larger diameter and length lag bolt for the bottom flange assembly, because the bottom one was further distance between stud and fiberglass.It was just one thing after another, and the developer was amazingly patient and encouraging. And this was after business hours on a Friday. I really can't speak highly enough of his willingness to help and his expertise. If I had occasion to buy this product again, I 100% would, and I highly recommend this product and company.Posted onVerified This provides a strong permanent attachment point I purchased 3 of these kits (for 3 grab bars) and am glad I did. Takes about an hour to install one kit for each grab bar however it is well worth it. Instructions are easy to follow (video is also available), everything works as advertised. Provides a good, strong base anchored to stud behind shower/tub unit. This is a great way to add grab bars inside a shower/tub unit.Posted onVerified Basically Good This is basically a good product. I just used it to install in my fiberglass shower. However, two things to watch out for. First, the bolts that fix the shower frame to wall studs were, in my case, of inferior grade, and I sheared one off installing it. This made it necessary to look for a fix. This succeeded, at little expense and effort. Second, the kit's mounting plates for my grab bar were larger than the bar's flanges, and I had to go to considerable effort to cut the mounting plate down enough to be able to slide on the flange covers. Inspect this beforehand and cut or grind the mounting plate down to fit, if necessary. Be sure and use sufficient silicone caulk to prevent water intrusion inside the shower frame. The kit does provide good instructions, step-by-step, complete with pictures and a video. Give the whole scheme a good dry run before hand.Posted onVerified Mother in-law approved! Made in the USA. This is an awesome product and the video is right on track. Watch the video before you order and again before you install. There were 2 different depths vertically which made for 2 different cut lengths as described in the video. In the end, the installation of the grab bar was rock solid and I have no concerns of the durability.Posted onVerified sturdy anchor for grab bar. Very sturdy and the instructions are easy to follow for anyone with a little diy experience and equipmentPosted onVerified Problem solver Just had an acrylic shower surround installed in my elderly mother’s house due to a leak in her shower. Previously , she had marble tile and three grab bars . As soon as the panels were installed I realized that they flexed and wouldn’t really support grab bars . That’s when I found these mounts . They’re basically heavy duty spacers . Simple idea , implemented well. Luckily the guy who installed my shower had reinforced areas where he noticed I previously had bars. He was so happy to see these mounts and had no problem installing them. They were fairly intuitive for him to install. Don’t think he even read instructions . They absolutely work like a charm to give a solid foundation to the HEAVY BRASS GRAB BARS that I have. Perfect . Thanks for a great product. Edit: i did order an extra set at the time of purchase . Needed two sets , ordered three. It worked out very well because if i remember correctly, he ended up needing one more spacer , which he took put of the third set . Fine with me because its a seamless, sturdy, installation, And worth every penny spent on this product, even with an extra set only partially used .
